In addition, Makarska is a well developed vacation resort with a large offer of restaurants, bars and cafés along the beach promenade or in the narrow streets of the old town centre.

The city of Makarska has a central location in the Dalmatian region. There are direct ferry connections to several of the islands along the coast and a new highway exit in Makarska that connects the city to the European highway network. It is less than one hour drive to Split and Zagreb is within three hours. Makarska is therefore a very good starting location for exploring other areas of the Croatian coast and inland by rental car or by bus.
